What was your kind of food while growing up?
I grew up in an environment where food was surplus. My father was one of the best farmers in Idogun area of Ondo state. My father was always bringing food from the farm so, we never lacked good food.
Was there a particular food you liked as a child?
Yes. I remember then that I was so much attached to yam. I was eating yam on daily basis. Even those around me could testify to the fact that yam was my best and still my best food till date. I cook yam in different ways. Either, yam and garden egg sauce, roasted yam, fried yam or even yam with groundnut oil.
Why yam?
It was always available and from my childhood, I see it as food that is easy to prepare unlike others.
You would have played some pranks to get yam?
Not really. There was no reason for playing pranks since it was always available.
Was there a time you were allowed to cook for the family?
Yes, I started cooking at eleven in primary five. Now as a mother and career woman,
how do you carry on with the home front?
God has blessed me with a lovely family and I ensure that I give the best of my time whenever it is needed. But, at the weekend, I give my maximum attention and ensure that I do not gamble with their food.
Your kind of exercise?
I dance and walk to keep fit. I make sure that I have a bunch of banana with me whenever I am walking.
How would you advise Nigerians on healthy living?
The fact that our present economic situation is not favourable does not say we should not eat balanced diet. In my family, our major source of protein is beans.
