ABUJA— GOVERNORS elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, held a crucial meeting in Abuja, with last Tuesday’s defection of five of its governors to the All Progressives Congress, APC, as top on the agenda.
The meeting, which took place at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, had in attendance 12 PDP governors.
It was gathered that the meeting was presided over by Akwa-Ibom State Governor and Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, PDPGF, Godswill Akpabio.
At the end of the meeting which ended at 7.45pm, the governors later proceeded to the Presidential Villa to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.
Those in attendance were governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Cross River, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau and Enugu states. Others were Bauchi, Abia, Ebonyi and Kogi.
While the Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu, was represented by his deputy, governors of Jigawa, Benue, Gombe, Taraba, Kebbi were absent.
The host governor, Godswill Akpabio declined comments when approached by journalists.
