Ex-Abia PDP chair blames party crisis on lack of communication

BY ANAYO OKOLI

UMUAHIA—Former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Rev. Benson Ezem, has called on the leadership of the party at the national headquarters to adopt open communication with members and leaders at all levels.

According to him, lack of communication has been part of the problem of the party.
Ezem blamed the crisis rocking the party on lack of open communication from the national leadership.
He also expressed hope that the party would come out stronger from the crisis.
According to him, when the people are not well informed, they may scatter like sheep without shepherds.

Ezem called on the national leadership of the party and other leaders at the state, local government and even wards to always have open communications with members to be able to carry them along.
He also advised the leaders of the party, especially at the local government and ward levels to always carry the members along, especially when there were dividends to be shared, so it would trickle down to the grassroot.

Rev. Ezem, who is currently chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee in the state, also stressed the importance of discipline in party politics.
He urged party members at all levels to be disciplined and conduct themselves within the constitution of the party.
He said with discipline and right leadership, PDP would survive the current crisis and even get stronger.

Ezem commended Governor Theodore Orji’s performance in the state, saying tremendous work had been done with the solid infrastructural projects being put in place.
He lauded Governor Orji particularly for shunning loans in his development projects.

“He does not want to commit Abians to any bank but managing the state’s little resource base very well,” the ex-PDP chairman said.
On 2015 which Governor Orji has promised to shift to the Ukwa/Ngwa people, Ezem said it was good, saying it would ensure equity and justice.
