Edo APC to PDP: Show proof of SURE-P employments

BY GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE

BENIN—ALL Progressives Congress, APC, Edo State chapter, has challenge Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to publish the names of the 3,500 persons purportedly employed so far in Edo State under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P.

In a statement in Benin yesterday, by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Godwin Erhahon, the party alleged that each of the 3,500 persons who were to be drawn from the thousands of unemployed graduates was to earn a monthly allowance of N18,000.

“SURE-P is funded from the money saved from the removed petroleum subsidy and purportedly channeled to provide short-term apprenticeship employment for unemployed graduates during which they would learn skills to enhance their employability and reduce their vulnerability.
“It is supposedly targeted at alleviating the poverty and hardship of youth and poor women,” he said.

Comrade Erhahon alleged that over N30 billion of SURE-P fund had been diverted by PDP leaders in Edo State alone through fictitious names.
