Commander thanks Abdullahi, Elegbeleye, wants Jonathan’s support

World heavyweight wrestling champion, Osita Offor, also known as De Ultimate Commander, is pleading with President Goodluck Jonathan to support his quest to defend his title against United States’ Bobby Lashley.

De Commander will meet Lashley today  at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, in a championship that will also feature such other renowned wrestlers as Shelton Benjamin, John Cena, The Barbarian, Nature Boy and Jimmy Palm, among others.

The best of Nigerian music stars, including Tuface Idibia, Omawunmi, Tee Mac, as well as comic acts will add favour to the event.

Speaking in Abuja, where he went to thank the Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi and the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) Director General, Gbenga Elegbeleye, for their support, De Commander said the task of keeping the heavyweight belt in Nigeria is one that should involve every Nigerian.

According to De Commander,   “the mood is high and the spirit is high and most of the expected wrestlers, 12 from the United States of America and 10 from African countries, have already arrived in Lagos.

“The Battle of the Legend is an event that will bring the whole nation to a stand still. I am proud and glad that I am a part of this history.

“I am also glad and proud to say that the Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, has blessed this fight and the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye, has been a pillar of support to me since the time he was the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Sports.
