Alhaja Muibat Adetokun, the Chairperson of Ansar-ud-Deen Society, Ilorin branch, recently expressed dismay at the increasing cases of abandoned babies in the country.
Adetokun spoke in Ilorin when the group visited the Children Reception Centre at Gaa Akanbi as part of activities to mark the society’s 90th anniversary.
Describing the act as inhuman, Adetokun, who said children are gifts from God, appealed to parents and guardians to take good care of children at all times.
She said Muslim organisations in the country, irrespective of socio-cultural backgrounds, owed it a duty to always provide for the needy.
Adetokun said the group was committed to the propagation of Islam as well as to promotion of western and Islamic education among Muslims.
Responding, the officer in charge of the centre, Mr Taiye Ikupolati, expressed gratitude to the group for the donation.
He stressed the need for other organisations to emulate the society’s gesture of assisting the needy.
Earlier, the Public Relations Officer of the society, Alhaja Sikirat Olaitain, said a Special Juma’at Service would hold on Friday as part of activities to mark the 90th anniversary while the grand finale will hold on Saturday in Lagos.
