TOWARDS changing the landscape of medicine and healthcare in Nigeria, 4 Dimension Technology in partnership with China-based organisation, Landwind Medicals recently introduced state-of-the-art 4D ultra sound scanners.
Speaking during a recent demonstration of the state of the art equipment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Associate Professor Radiology Department LASUTH, Racheal Akinola, said the 4D scanner is most useful for obstetrics cases.
“The best time to use is at 22-26 weeks gestation. The machine shows all dimensions of the feotus. It can be used to detect congenital abnormalities in obstetrics which is better found within that age range that the machine specifies. The patient is now better for it because once a diagnosis is made, treatment commences based on what the scan has shown.”
Business Manager, 4Dimension Technology, Fidelis Mordi, explained that, the use of technology in medicine would help professionals in medical practice to take good care of patients.
“Lack of appropriate medical equipment is the bane of the brain drain in medicine. Doctors perform excellently abroad because of availability of medical tools.” He said the different financial package that allows prospective clients to acquire equipment with ease is based on credit facility that can be spread over 18 months.
