WORLD CUP DRAW: Eagles  await tough group

With about seven days to the holding of the World |cup draw in the Brazilian state of Bahia, the word from the Super Eagles is that they were prepared to face any team when the World Cup kicks off at the Arena de Sao Paulo on June 12, 2014.

Though the  event proper , holding at the Costa do Sauipe resort, may be six months away,, the hopes of the qualified 32 teams can be raised with optimism or wickedly crushed at the draw ceremony,, which will be conducted by FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, assisted by former World Cup winners Cafu, Fabio Cannavaro, Mario Kempes, Lothar Matthaus, Zinedine Zidane and 1966 legend Sir Geoff Hurst.

As the world waits with baited breath for the decision hour on December 6, the Super Eagles have said that they were not worried with the prospects of being drawn in a tough group, comprising heavyweight teams of world football.

“The coaching crew of the Super Eagles is not unnecessarily worried over which teams we are are going to play in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup holding in Brazil”, said Ben Alaiya, the Spokesman of the Super Eagles.

He added that “Keshi has always said and still maintains that the Super Eagles are prepared to face any team in the 2014 World Cup. We are not scared of any opposition. As the saying goes, ‘the bigger they come the harder they fall’, this team have potentials to do well at the biggest stage and would take every opposition with all seriousness.

“We are ready to play any team and are ready for a tough group, if that is what we will get, but our objective remains to first get out of the group stage and from there, go on to do the nation proud”, added the Eagles Spokesman.

He informed us that Keshi was expected to grace the World Cup draw ceremony iin Brazil.
