Former African footballer of the year, Emmanuel Amuneke does not believe the time is right to blood members of Nigeria’s victorious Golden Eaglets team at the highest level.

ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – NOVEMBER 08: Nigerian players celebrate victory after beating Mexico 3-0 during the FIFA U-17 World Cup UAE 2013 Final between Nigeria and Mexico at the Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium on November 8, 2013 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. ( FIFA)

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi told supersport.com this week that he is willing to give some members of

the squad a look in but Amuneke, who coached the Golden Eaglets to success at the 2013 Fifa under 17 World Cup says it’s too early to try out the youngsters at senior level.

He said the move to the Super Eagles will be a step too steep for them to cope with.

“It’s too early (for them to play for the Super Eagles). They are not ready yet. You need to carefully groom these boys and asking them to play for the Super Eagles at this stage will be a mistake,” Amuneke told supers-port.com.
