Sack Wike now, Rivers Forum tells Jonathan

Rivers’ People Forum, RPF, a socio-political umbrella body of all Rivers people, at home and in diaspora, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to summarily sack the Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, over his comments that he won’t be able to resolve the lingering national strike by university lecturers for another few months.

It would be recalled that Wike had, on Tuesday, said the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, could only be resolved in a few months time. Already, the university lecturers have been on strike for about four months.

President of RPF, Charles Bekwele, in a statement, noted that Wike’s comments showed clearly that his appointment as a minister must be terminated immediately to  save the education sector from imminent and total collapse.

He said: “We have said time and again that Wike, who’s from Rivers State, does not mean well for President Jonathan. He is a threat to democracy and is hell bent on destroying the Jonathan administration.  Wike’s actions, inactions and statements are injurious, inimical and pernicious to the administration.”
