This year’s Governor’s Cup Futures I and II would take a new shape as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has approved new time schedule for the singles and doubles matches.
Disclosing this to Sports Vanguard, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, who is the tournament director said the new time is coming at the instance of the organisers, who want Nigerians to have the opportunity of watching matches in the evening.
He added that finals of the women’s singles of both Future I and II would serve off at 3p.m, while the men will play their own by 5p.m.
“The main reason we changed the time is to allow fans coming to the venue after close of works to watch quality players who will play into early evening 6-7pm, due to new-look of the club particularly the lightning that is now ITF standard as informed by Sam Egbuchunam, the President of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.”
