Zamfara police parade 2 over rape of minors

Gusau – The Police in Zamfara on Tuesday paraded two persons for allegedly raping two girls aged nine and 10.

Parading the suspects aged 40 and 52, the Police Public Relations Officers in the state, DSP Lawal Abdullahi, said they were arrested at Dabbakal area of Gusau on Thursday.

Abdullahi said the arrest followed an alarm raised by residents who found the girls crying, adding that the victims took them to the scene of the incident where the suspects were arrested.

He said one of the suspects, a sugarcane seller and father of three, confessed to the crime.

The second suspect and father of 12, however, told the police that he only inserted his fingers inside the girls’ private parts.

The police spokesman, who said the two suspects would be charged to court at the end of investigation, implored parents to always monitor the movement of their children. (NAN)
