Lagos – Mr Bisi Yusuf, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, on Tuesday said the ongoing Police Biometrics Central Motor Registry (BCMR) would curb robbery and kidnapping in the country.
Yusuf, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Commerce and Industry, said in Lagos that the exercise would help the police to curtail incessant criminality.
“I think the introduction of BCMR will help the police to curb the persistent robbery and kidnappings in the country.
“The data capturing will help to tackle the security challenges and illegal activities facing the country at the moment,” Yusuf said.
The lawmaker also added that it would improve the level of security in many cities, including Lagos, Ibadan and Kano.
Yusuf, however, called on the police to see the assignment as a means of tackling security challenges, rather than generating revenue for government.
The BCMR is a technological means of attaching automobile owner’s personal data to his or her vehicle for proper identification and protection. (NAN)
