Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has tipped Super Eagles forward Victor Moses to play a key role in the club’s counter-attacking plan this season.
Table-topping Liverpool host Southampton tomorrow at Anfield with the Reds boss keen to unleash the Nigerian star on the visitors in their bid to maintain their lead on the table.
The on-loan Chelsea winger scored in the 2-2 draw against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night and has been assured of a starting role in his home debut by Rodgers.
Speaking to the club’s website, Rodgers said that the forward’s counter-attacking conversion had been borne out of preparation on the training pitches at Melwood.
“He had a couple of moments where you could see why we brought him in,” Rodgers told Liverpoolfc.com.
“He can take players on. He’s got a wee bit to go yet to get up to speed with the intensity; but his goal was terrific.
“We did a bit of work in the week on counter-attacks – we felt there would be moments in the game here when you’re not going to have the ball, but when you do get the ball can you flood forward?
