Lagos Grassroots Athletics Development coach, Adu Uruemu has declared that Lagos State athletes will strive to dominate the athletics events of the maiden edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) billed for December 5-15 in Abuja.
Adu said the athletes had gone through the first phase of camping, ahead of the Games.
“Preparation for the National Youth Games is ongoing at the moment. The athletes are in high spirit for the competition. We just ended a three-week camp to prepare our athletes for the Games.
Most of the athletes we invited to the camp were discovered at the Premier Lotto Championship earlier this year,” he said.
Adu said the athletes would be invited for the second phase of camping later in the month, to hone their skills, adding that the selection of athletes representing the state at the fiesta, would be based on merit.
“The state’s grassroots programmes will enhance the performance of the athletes at the event,” the coach said.
