Aliyu lauds NTI’s literacy campaign

BY GABRIEL EWEPU

ABUJA—THE Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, yesterday, commended the effort of Nigeria Teachers Institute, NTI, on its literacy campaign and efforts to provide Nigerians with quality education.

The governor said the institute has produced over 40 per cent of the qualified teachers in the Northern states, and expressed gratitude for a job well done, urging the institution to redouble its efforts.

He said: “Many of the states in the North have no more than 40 to 50 percent qualified teachers. We thank the Director General of Nigeria Teachers Institute, NTI, because he has been doing excellently well but we need to do more.”
