‘APC’s registration, PDP’s loss’

BY SIMON EBEGBULEM

BENIN—ACTION Congress of Nigeria, ACN, National Assembly members in Edo State, have said that the registration of All Progressive Congress, APC, despite alleged attempts to scuttle it, will create a democratic environment where ideas rather than few powerful individuals will dominate the politics of the country.

The Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Mr. Samson Osagie, Rasaq Bello-Osagie, Pally Iriase and Senator Domingo Obende all noted that Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s decision to register APC will help sustain the country’s democracy and end what they described as the arrogance of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Nigerian politics.

They boasted that APC will win the presidential election in 2015.

Osagie said: “Nigerians now have a golden opportunity to make informed choices between a ruling party that has, for almost 16 years, pauperised its citizenry and overrule rather than govern the country in line with international best practices of democratic governance.”

On his part, Senator Domingo said: “For too long, anti-democratic forces have held us back in the quest to bequeath the much needed good governance and democratic dividend to our people.

“But this development has shown that when a people are ready for change, no matter what opposition confront them, they will get their way.”

“All the opposition that greeted the resolve to registers our new party was a result of the fact that anti-democratic forces have seen the light in us and that we represent the hope for a better Nigeria.”
