Seun Kuti, Egypt 80 go live at the Shrine

After weeks of touring Europe and promoting Afrobeat globally, Seun Anikulapo Kuti with the Egypt 80 Band will be performing live at the New Africa Shrine this evening. The live show, which will start from 10pm, will run till the early hours of tomorrow.

As usual, Seun will thrill fans with the best of his repertoire as well as perform some of his father’s hit songs, the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Meanwhile, indications have emerged that Seun might be sampling some of his recent recordings, which will form part of his upcoming album. Expect some of those political commentaries on the state of the nation. Like his late father, Seun is a known activist.

“The tour was memorable, we had time to see the cities and entertain our fans. However, my album launch is coming soon, so we are concentrating on wrapping up the production; we are still recording,” he disclosed.

According to the multi-instrumentalist, a deal is on the table as a buildup to the album release proper.

“Each time we have a new album, we usually sign agreement without international promoters. So, this time, we are yet to seal the deal. But I can only tell you that we have offers on the table; we will surely go for the right one. You know how it works in Europe and America; big labels are always interested in signing on young artistes. So, we are still on it, and   will make things public as soon as we seal the deal,” he assured.
