The people of Ogulogu-Olo in Ezeagu Local government area, Enugu State have called on police authorities to fish out killers of one of their illustrious sons, Cajetan Osondu Nweke who met his untimely death in the hands of kidnappers after a ransom of N1million was paid.

The 44-year-old building merchant and his brother, Maite Onyibo, an European based referee, were abducted in May 6, 2013 at Nkwo-Olo market by yet-to-be known hoodlums who later demanded N3million ransom from their family.

Family members later raised N1million which was paid to his abductors only for the mutilated dead body of the merchant to be dumped around Ninth-Mile corner few hours later. The European returnee was beaten half dead and also dumped where he was picked and rushed to hospital.

The President-General of the town, Mr. Peter Eneruo who made the call to police authorities during the burial of the slain merchant lamented the manner he was killed and tasked law enforcement agents to bring the killers to book.

He announced that the town decided to immortalize their slain son by naming the community town hall still under construction after him adding, “we want to roof the new community hall in the name of Cajetan Nweke so that he would remain ever-green in our minds.  I am sorry for the hands that strangled Caje to death,  they have murdered sleep and would never have sleep in

their  life anymore,” he stated.

In a homily during the funeral mass, the parish priest, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ogulogu Olo, Rev. Fr. Syracus Agu, described the late merchant as an epitome of excellence, characterized by freedom for the development of the community.

“God wanted him at that material time he was killed by his abductors,so nobody should say he did not die a natural death, Caje was an engine oiled by openness and goodwill who hardly can hurt a fly, that was why we started the mass with full Rosary,” he said.
