No hiding place for Heartland – Pillars

Kano Pillars’ team

By John Egbokhan
Reigning Premier League champion, Kano Pillars have said that Heartland cannot escape defeat in tomorrow’s top of the table clash at the FIFA Technical Centre in Abuja.

When both sides met in the first game, the result was inconclusive due to crowd disturbance at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofarmata, Kano. The tie was barely 30 minutes old before trouble started, leading to its abandonment. The League Management Company (LMC) waded in and ordered for a replay at a neutral ground in Abuja.

Speaking on the replay, a Pillars official, Idris Malikawa said the Kano-based side are poised to score crucial goals that will see them reclaim the top spot, which he vowed they would not relinquish until the season ends..

“Of course, we’re going to honour the rescheduled game against Heartland in Abuja.. An official of the LMC just confirmed that the game will hold in Abuja on Saturday, June 1 at the Fifa Technical Centre.

“We’re ready and have no reason not to play the game as it offers us a bright chance to go clear at the top of the log. We’ll honour the game and we’re quite confident of picking the maximum points,” he added.

Both sides are tied on 25 points but Heartland have the edge on account of superior goals scored.
