It was  reported  recently that there has been tension in Anambra State over the attendance of a prominent Anambra personality, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba’s sister’s wedding at the Catholic Church of the Assumption, Falomo, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Saturday, April 20.Traditional rulers, Federal and State legislators and Presidents-General of various communities in Anambra State which the State governor is not happy about.

If it is indeed true the governor is unhappy, perhaps nobody should blame him because since he was not in attendance at the wedding, it means somebody, must have told him a lie.

A situation where prominent traditional rulers, community presidents-general, legislators, women leaders, youths and students, market executives of various known commercial towns in Anambra State and members of several professional bodies as well as almost every gubernatorial aspirant in Anambra State, name them, left the State and headed for a far away place like Lagos to attend a mere wedding of a friend’s sister may naturally give room for concern.

So if the governor of a State where about 20% of the adult populace of such caliber of persons left for a weeding in a foreign land spits fire and brimstone at those who attended the wedding, perhaps nobody should blame or shout back at him. But that is if anything sinister or conspiratorial against him, his personal interest or his government transpired at the wedding;nothing of that sort happened.

If the governor is actually cross with some people who attended the Lagos event, then it must be the handiwork of gossips,seemly close to the  corridors of power. In that case, our governor needs not stress his nerves over the issue except he has metamorphosed beyond the Peter Obi we know – a man who has a very small place in his heart for gossip, but is rather focused and more concerned  to transform Anambra State into a socio-economic Eldorado after decades of decay; a battle he is winning as can be seen in the giant strides he has made.

But if for any reason the governor found reason to listen to and believe gossip and lies, then let him hear a true account of what actually took place at Lagos between Ifeanyi Uba and his teeming guests from Anambra and several other States of the Federation, if nothing else, to be sure nobody – traditional rulers, PGs, legislators, name them, went there and indulged in any activity that undermined his personal or political interest”.

This is a man of about 40 years who has established a very big oil industry that has given not less than ten thousand people across the country employment, most of them Anambra people. In the course of interacting with his visitors at various fora during the event, in the traditional manner of appreciating their attendance to his invitation, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba took time off to mention his gubernatorial ambition and promised to use his wealth and experience as a successful business mogul to turn Anambra State into something else from where the incumbent governor stops – how he would employ the State’s Federal allocation and internally generated revenue from main market, Onitsha, motor spare parts Nnewi, New motors parts, Nkpor, old motor parts, mgbuka, Obosi, Awka main market, electrical stores upper Iweka, Onitsha, Nkwo Nnewi, Ekwulobia market/motor park, Ose Onitsha, Afor Nkpor, Eke Awgbu, Ogbunike building materials, Enugwu Agidi timber shed, etc for the betterment of the State by building enough industries and bringing total industrial revolution in the State, making education affordable for everybody, turning the pains and tears of widows to comfort, pleasure and cheers and many more pledges; how all the industries in the Anambra State will be supported by the government in terms of patronage, continuous power supply, tax rebate and total security; how he would gainfully engage the youths of every community in Anambra State in one way or the other in order to reduce the increasing wave of crime in the State.
