The Flying Eagles will depart for Toulon, France, Monday evening from Munich, Germany.

The team of 30 players and 10 officials will leave Elfershausen, where they have been training for about two weeks, by 9am local time on Monday for the four-hour bus ride to Munich.

The team will then fly to Marseille by 3.45pm local time and then go by road to Toulon in a trip expected to take them about two hours.

On Saturday night, the team watched the all-German UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund on a giant-screen facility provided by Hotel Ullrich.

The coaches used the final as an instructional game for the players, who were asked about such things like tactical formations and player attitudes.

The Flying Eagles will open their Toulon campaign against defending champions Mexico on Wednesday. Kick-off time is 5.30pm local, which is 4.30pm Nigerian time.

On June 2, they face Belgium and two days later they battle world champions Brazil, who incidentally did not qualify for next month’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.

Their final group game is on June 6 against Portugal, who they will also face in their opening World Cup Group B match on June 21 in Kayseri.

The team are expected to announce a final 21-man squad on June 7.

The Flying Eagles are expected to fly out from Germany to Turkey on June 17.
