Mba, Agbim belong to Warri Wolves – NFA maintains

The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) on Friday restated that Super Eagles’ attacking midfielder, Sunday Mba, belongs to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Warri Wolves FC.

It will be recalled that the ownership of the player and his team mate, Chigozie Agbim, had been in controversy between Warri Wolves and Rangers International FC of Enugu.

The matter was taken to the NFA to decide after the clubs failed to resolve the issue.

NFA’s Assistant Director (Media), Ademola Olajire, said in a statement in Lagos that the body’s President, Aminu Maigari, was disappointed that the clubs failed to resolve the issue after several weeks.

The statement quoted Maigari as saying that the delay in resolving the case had affected the players’ careers which now needed to be put back on track.

“The NFA made it clear in a press statement before the end of 2012 that its ad-hoc committee on the matter had decided that the player has his contractual obligations to Warri Wolves.

“And told both clubs to decide a transfer fee for the player. Unfortunately, both clubs have not been able to do so,” the statement said.

It further stated that Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Chigozie Agbim, was also a player of the Warri Wolves.

“This is also to declare that goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim is legitimately a Warri Wolves’ player. Any club in quest of the services of these two players should go and negotiate with Warri Wolves.

“The NFA is very much interested in the career progression of our players and will continue to ensure that nothing jeopardises this progression,” it quoted Maigari as saying. (NAN)
