Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola will today, commission the Ikeja Millemium Housing Estate. The commissioning is pursuant to the avowed commitment of the state government to provide decent accommodation for Lagos residents in line with the policy direction in which the state identified housing as one of its four cardinal points.
Located in the high brow Muiz Banire Street, GRA Ikeja; the 76-unit four-bedroom maisonettes duplexes stand elegantly to complement the landscape of the neighbourhood. The completion of the estate which is made up of 10 blocks.
Nine of them have eight units of maisonettes each, while the 10th block comprises seven units. Ministry of housing officials described today’s ceremony as yet another milestone in the history of government intervention in bridging housing deficit in the state.
A statement from the ministry which was signed by Mr. Segun Ogundeji stated that the tastefully finished estate is a cynosure of all eyes. In a bid to make the estate functional and self sustaining, complimenting infrastructure facilities such as well paved network of roads, car park, mini water works, electricity and properly landscaped environment were provided.
“For security of lives and safety of the properties of residents and visitors to the estate, it is protected by a perimeter fence and manned gate houses. The debut of the estate will surely boost the socio-economic dynamics of the neighbourhood positively”, Ogundeji said.
