ABEOKUTA—There was palpable tension in the camp of Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, over the crisis rocking  the state House of Assembly. This is following the controversies trailing the composition of the Assembly’s Tender Board.

Vanguard gathered that, the alleged threat of showdown by some members of the Assembly last Thursday, against the leadership of the House, who were believed to be loyal to the governor, had giving  members of the governor’s camp  sleepless nights.

It will be recalled that, the Assembly held a rowdy session over the composition of a tender’s board, which was recommended by the Independent Corrupt Practices  Commission, ICPC, over the purchase of  28 cars, which were  alleged to be illegally bought.

The Assembly had been divided into two, Pro and Anti governor legislators. The development, Vanguard, gathered had sent dangerous signals to the executive arm of government in the state, who feared that it might affect it.

The House, which comprises 26 members had 11 lawmakers, said to be anti-governor, four were still undecided while only 10 were for the governor.

To counter the move by the anti-governor camp, his loyalists at the House, who were mostly  at the leadership, were reported to have concluded plans to suspend  three  of the ‘rebellious’ lawmakers.

It was gathered that the decision to deal with the ‘recalcitrant’ members was taken during a meeting after last week’s session at the official home of a leader of  the Action Congress Nigeria, in the state.
