Lagos Motor show moves to Federal Palace

THE Eight edition of the Lagos Motor Fair and second edition of the auto parts Expo will hold at the prestigious Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Announcing the new venue at a press conference in Lagos recently, the Managing Director, BKG Exhibition, organisers of the annual event, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu said that the change was aimed at giving the best to Nigerians and the participant.

The previous editions of the fair had held at the Tafawa Balewa Square and OceanView Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“We are moving to the Federal Palace Hotel where we can exhibit both parts and vehicles in the hotel which is the centre of our target market. We have larger concentration of our target market on the Island,” he said.

The location, according to him is central. “We hope everybody will enjoy the new venue.”

This fair is scheduled to hold from May 10 to 16,  while the auto part exhibition which is in its second edition will start on the 13, of May and end on the 16th at the same venue.

The BKG boss however disclosed that the Lagos State governor, Mr. Raji Babatunde Fashola will declare the fair open.

According to him, many auto companies have indicated interest to participate at the show while over 50 auto parts makers from across the world will be partaking in the event.

“The response has been good. We are going to have a full house. All the major players have shown interest in the fair and we won’t disappoint in the organisation,” he stated.

Mr. Agwu further explained that, with over 50 foreign spare parts companies coming and the auto manufacturers too, the venue will be the right ground for business transactions and development.

Taking a look at their previous events, the Managing Director said that improvements have been recorded but added that they have not reached their dream motor show yet.

“We expected it to have grown beyond this level but there are challenges. We are looking at the future, hoping that one day, we will see the kind of motor show we are dreaming of,” he said.

According to him, last year was good with participation of international spare parts companies and people saw the potentials, adding that with the strength and contributions of their foreign partners, more foreign participants are expected to take part in the event.
