Apart from promoting her songs, Deola is also in Nigeria to seal deals with some reigning home based artistes. So far, the experience has been heart warming as the songstress is leaving no stone un-turned in her bid to take the nation’s music scene by storm.
“I’m here to promote my new songs, a mixtape and also to meet some home based artistes with a view to doing a collaboration with them,” she disclosed.
The songstress described the nation’s music scene as ‘exciting’, adding that “there are so many new artistes on the bloc. ‘It’s exciting to see how our music industry is developing,”she said
For Moodini, bringing Deola onto his team stems more from her high sense of artistry. “She writes her own songs and when it comes to performance, she holds her own. I like the fact that she is able to write her songs her self and perform them. She also plays piano. Deola is one artiste who will go very far because as a song writer and a performer. She has all it takes to blow in the industry,” he said.
Deola’s producer hinted that plans are underway to release her full album next year.
The 22-year old songstress is currently an undergraduate studying Dentistry even as she has been developing her own sound as an artist. “I try to incorporate the expressive Yoruba language into my songs to create a unique blend of contemporary Afro pop with a soulful twist. The inspiration for my sound is a fusion of genres and a range of artists, like Asa, Corine Bailey Rae, Erykah Badu and more traditionally, The Kutis and Shina Peters,” she says.
