Confed Cup: Heartland’s opponents hit Owerri tomorrow

Gabonese side, Union Sportif (US) Bitam will send a 38-man contingent to Owerri, Imo State capital ahead of this weekend’s CAF Confederations Cup first-leg, second round clash with Heartland FC of Owerri.

Information available from the Heartland FC media department on Tuesday indicated that US Bitam would come in two batches with the main contingent made up of players, coaches and some officials expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International  Airport in Lagos by 11.00hrs on Thursday morning by Askia Air.

The contingent will then be air-lifted from Lagos to Owerri where they will be accommodated in one of the five star hotels in the city.

However, the remainder of the contingent which will include the club president and some other top officials will arrive on a later date before the kick off.

Owerri has a reputation for hospitality and the Nigerian flag-bearers, Heartland FC are believed to have marshaled out strategies to give their visitors a memorable experience.

The match is billed for the newly renovated Dan Anyiam stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Heartland FC on Tuesday morning moved into a closed camping exercise to enable players and coaches focus properly on the coming assignment.
