ABEOKUTA— Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP  in Ogun State yesterday  protested the alleged plan by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to foist  a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), to fly the PDP governorship ticket in 2015 contrary to overall interest of the party.

The aggrieved party members numbering about 500 who also accused Obasanjo of surreptitiously grooming his kinsman from Owuland in Abeokuta  ahead of the 2015 election, begged ex-governor of the state Gbenga Daniel, the party financier, Chief Buruji Kashamu  to rescue  the party from Obasanjo’s imposition.

Speaking at  Ogun East Senatorial District  party meeting held  in Ijebu-Ode  in protest against Obasanjo manner of handling the party’s affairs, former state Secretary of the Party, Chief Adepeba Otemolu, said the former President is not only working to undermine the party in the state, but also constituting setbacks in Ogun PDP’s march to a successful 2015.

Obasanjo was also accused  of “cornering appointments and other benefits from Aso Rock to his Owu people without extending any to other PDP members outside Owuland in Abeokuta.”

Many chieftains of the party who included  Kashamu, Senator Mustapha and Chief Agboola Alausa, said it is imperative that the party strives towards peace and unity in the Gateway State.

The aggrieved party members,  however,  tasked the former governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel, Senator Lekan Mustapha and Hon. Dave Salako, as well as billionaire hotelier and chieftain of the party, Buruji Kashamu to chart a “road map” towards returning the party to power in the state.

The three  factions which comprise  Daniel, Buruji Kashamu  and ex-Minister for Finance, Chief Jubril Martins – Kuye  respectively gave the reason why they may not work with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his group  ahead of the 2015.
