Why Ondo should reject Mimiko -Tinubu

LEADERS of the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN yesterday stormed Ondo State asking the people of the state to reject Governor Olusegun Mimiko in the October 20 governorship election.

ACN National Leader , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman , Chief Bisi Akande said that Mimiko betrayed those who helped him into power.

Tinubu said at the Ikare campaign rally tagged: ‘Redemption Rally,’ that it was the forthcoming governorship election that would send the Labour Party Governor away.

The rally was almost marred heavy downpour but the party faithful defiled the rain and waited for the arrival of the leaders, who came in large number.

The former Lagos State Governor then urged the people of the area to vote en masse for the ACN at the polls, charging that they should not leave the polling centre until their votes were counted

“ Mimiko came to me that the PDP wanted to cheat him in 2007, he was begging me then I agreed to assist him both financially and morally because I took him like my brother.

We empowered him, gave him money, bullet-proof car, and we even took his case abroad but now look at how he is paying us back. He is an ingrate” “I want you people to judge with your votes for ACN on October 20th .  For three and half years what did he do for you here in Akoko?

Nothing, so it is high time you use your vote to send him away, all the things he promised you, he did nothing so he does not deserve to use second term. We don’t want Ondo to be different among the states in the South-West, so that we can have economic integration in the South-West.

Also, he is an advocate of one governor, one term, so he should go, he condemned Adefarati and Agagu for second term, so why does he want to go for second term?”

The ACN Governorship Candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, who said he would work for the people of the state also promised that the state would experience development that other South-West states were experiencing, if he gets to power .

Akeredolu who was ushered on to the podium amidst cheers from his supporters also urged the Akoko people to come out enmasse and vote ACN during the election, warning them to defend their votes and to ensure that their votes were counted before the leave the polling station.

Other speakers at the rallies included Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and  former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Segun Osoba.

Some aspirants who were aggrieved following the choice of Akeredolu including Dr Tunji Abayomi and Mrs Jumoke Anifowose  were present at the rally and they promised to work for the party and Akeredolu.

Array of other party leaders in attendance at the rally  included  Ondo State Chariman of ACN, Chief Nathaniel Adesoji, Oyo State Chairman of ACN, Chief Akin Oke, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Dr Olusegun Abraham, Chief  Jaiyeola Ajata,  and Chief Tayo Alasoadura, the Director General of the Campaign among others.
