ABUJA— The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, yesterday, said that the Nigerian Communications Satellite, NiComSat  had the capacity to deliver electronic voting system, e-voting for future elections.

The PDP chairman made the declaration during a test run process of e-voting at the corporate headquarters of the organisation in Abuja.

He said he was shocked to witness the level of innovative technology and capacity exhibited by NiComSat, especially in the area of e-voting and electronic broadcasting, saying that with the right support and adoption of the technology, Nigeria could compete with any of her contemporaries anywhere in the world.

Tukur said: My impression about what I saw here today is really beyond my imagination because I have never conceived that I will see such a thing here in Nigeria. What this means is that the potentials here can be compared with any other potentials we can get outside our country.

“What we need is to utilize our capacity, our capability and innovative ideas to really address our problems and challenges.”
