MAKKAH — King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, of Saudi Arabia has said that the crises sweeping through some Muslim countries and have resulted in miserable consequences remained unabated because many have not complied with the Shariah, which can solve all problems.
King Abdulaziz urged Muslims to get rid of divisions, saying: “We are one nation and it is the duty of the whole Ummah to put out the fires of conflicts and division among us.”
In a speech delivered on his behalf by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region at the ongoing conference organized by the Makkah-based Muslim World League recently, King Abdullah said the Kingdom has dealt with these crises based on its established principles and policies regarding the Arab and Muslim worlds.
The Kingdom said the Muslim world should be regarded as one adding that it is incumbent upon every Muslim to prevent and resolve any conflict that erupts among Muslims.
In light of the above, the Kingdom hosted the 4th Exceptional Islamic Conference last Ramadan in Makkah to enhance Muslim solidarity. “We rely upon influential Muslim scholars and organizations to warn Muslims against the consequences of sectarianism, conflicts and differences,” he said.
“We have the same religion. We belong to the same nation. We have the same mission. We are all targets. We should join forces and hold dialogue to confront and face all challenges,” the Emir said.
He called upon the Muslim World League (MWL) to draft a practical program to promote solidarity. Senior scholars and decision makers in the Ummah should also participate in the preparation of such a program.
Addressing the gathering at the two-day conference organized by the Muslim World League (MWL), Sheikh Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti and Chairman of MWL Supreme League, called for the unity of the Muslim community and its members. He said Islam calls for solidarity and helping one another and it denounces all forms of corruption and bad deeds.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Tukri, MWL Secretary-General, said the Muslim community should be educated about the established values of Islam and the changes.
He also said Islam is not against any development and that, on the contrary, it accommodates any development based on Shariah principles.
Dr. Essam Al-Bashir, President of the Islamic Fiqh Academy, in his own speech said it is important to focus on the established values of Islam.
