Mimiko hails Ondo people, alerts on oppositions’ antics on election day

The Mimiko Campaign Organisation (MCO) has thanked the people of Ondo State for their unalloyed support and show of love for the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko while his campaign for re-election lasted.

It assured the people that Governor Mimiko, who is the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), would not disappoint them when he is re-elected for a second term in office as he would continue to work for them with renewed vigour to take the State to greater heights.

MCO in a press statement while expressing gratitude to the people on behalf of the governor, however urged the people of the State to be alive to their civic responsibilities  by coming out in their numbers to cast and protect their votes.

According to the  statement signed by MCO’s Director of Publicity and Media Relations, Mr Kolawole Olabisi, the opposition parties in the State have mapped out series of plans to rig Saturday’s election because it was obvious that they would not win in a free and fair election.

“As we are writing this press statement, the opposition parties are running from pillar to post with evil plans to thwart your popular wish which is to return Dr Mimiko for a second term based on the monumental progress which he had brought to Ondo State within a short time.

“Indeed, aside from bringing in sensitive election materials which they hope to plant into the polling units with the connivance of some compromised officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), they have also brought in fake Military, Police, Youth Corps Members and Civil Defence uniforms to try to intimidate you, the electorate on the day of election to enable them switch genuine ballot papers with already thump printed ones on the election days.

The MCO therefore called on the people to be vigilant and be on the lookout for agents who would be scouting for people to bribe to lure them to vote for their party at the polling units.

The group equally enjoined the security operatives already posted to the State to be abreast of the oppositions’ dastard plans and be ready to bring culprits to book saying that the people of Ondo State want the assurances by Mr President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan that security officers would ensure a level play field to be strictly adhered to.
