
Late Ola Vincent
The nation was thrown into another throes of mourning on Monday afternoon when the news of death of Mr Ola Vincent, former Central Bank of Nigeria’s Governor hit the airwaves. The former CBN boss and former Vice-President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), gave up the ghost at St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos Island, Lagos.
Since his demise, tributes and eulogies have been flowing in from different strata of the society. Topping the bill as chief mourners are the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Senate President, Senator David Mark, Lagos state Governor and a host of others.
However, his Balarabe Musa’s residence in Victoria Island has become a Mecca of sort with several notable Nigerians recording their presence and entering their feelings in the condolence register. Some of those who have expressed their condolences include Otunba Subomi Balogun, Mr. Kofi Duncan, Chief Chris Ogunbanjo, Prof Ade Elebute, Chief Molade Okoya- Thomas, Mr. Pascal Dozie,Oba Otudeko, Chief Segun Osunkeye, and Chief Femi Okunu
Others are Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary General, Commonwealth, Chief Philip Asiodu, Mr. Akintola Williams and many Chief Joseph Sanusi, former Governor of Central Bank.
The burial rites for the late financial icon started yesterday, 6th of September with a Lying-in-State at his residence, followed by a funeral service at African Church Cathedral Bethel and interment at the Ikoyi Cemetry. On Sunday, 9th, there will be a reception of guests at the Havilah House of Events after an outing service at the African Church Cathedral, Lagos.
