After a hard-fought 1-0 extra-time victory over a resilient Mexico in the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Toyko , Nigeria zoomed her way into semi-finals to meet with Japan on Tuesday 4th of September.

Desire Oparanozie’s  decisive goal on 109 minutes paved way for Nigeria’s moves in the semi-finals.  The always dangerous Sofia Huerta, scorer of three goals in the tournament, made a rare incursion into the Africans’ penalty area just before the break, to provide some impetus for the Mexicans.

Chief coach of the team U-20 team Edwin Okon  expressed delighted  over his  team performance. He said,”It is common thing all over the world to have supporters club supporting the team, the supporters club is all about cheering and I think that their support also made  massive impact to the team’s success. “ he said in the post match conference.

Continuing he said, “One thing that  am also sure about is that, my girls were the best and am proud of them for their efforts so far . There  is also no doubt that they are listening to instructions.
