Coach Ndubuisi Nduka who led Heartland of Owerri to a successful defence of the Federation Cup they won last year, has promised a more improved squad that will give the country a credible representation in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking after the pulsating final which Heartland defeated hard fighting Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-1, Ndubuisi said, “We are going back to Owerri and sit down to review what we have done, see what we have and what we need to do before the Confederation Cup.

“What I can tell you now is that preparations for the

continent will begin as soon as we get back to Owerri.”

The coach who took over the club mid-way into the season said the preparations will be based on how to reinforce the team with the desired personnel and funding. “We will talk about everything,” he said, expressing optimism that the club will better their performance the last time they featured in the continent when they lost to TP Mazembe in the final.

“We hope to win the Confederation Cup and give Nigerians cause to smile. I am happy for my players. They really showed great fighting spirit and it paid off.”
