LAGOS, Ogun and Delta  states lived up to their billings in the maiden Sam Ocheho Handball Championships in Lagos as they  began with victories.

Osun male and female handball teams on Tuesday lost to Ogun and Lagos State team A respectively in  the opening games.

The Ogun state male handball team recorded  the biggest  win after beating Osun male team  27-20. Equally, the Osun female team  lost 22-24 to Lagos team A.

The games were closely fought but the Ogun team made use of fast breaks and defence-splitting passes to run down their opponents   . The Osun team had their chances in the game and should have done better if it had better luck infront of goal.

In other games played, Lagos B  male team defeated Delta 61– 18 while the Delta female team defeated the Ondo team 17-14. The Ondo team went into the break with a 9-8 lead but failed to live up to expectation in the second half as they allowed the Delta girls take total control of the game.
