YENAGOA— A magistrate’s court sitting in Sagbama, Bayelsa State, has convicted and sentenced one Mr Finland Okpe and his six daughters to prison over willful and unlawful damage to property and threat to the life of one Chief David Oteri.
The six daughters are Christiana, Vero , Single , Theresa , Elizabeth and Maria.
The accused persons were convicted and sentenced on a four-count charge of conspiracy, willful and unlawful damage, threat to life and false information.
The Magistrate, Mrs Jennifer Obein, handing down her sentence, said, “this judgment will serve as a deterrent to the public and volatile youths, who have completely disregarded the existence of the laws of the state.”
Okpe was sentenced to a concurrent 38 months imprisonment, while the 2nd to 7th accused persons were sentenced to three months imprisonment for their willful and unlawful damage to property and threat to life of Chief Oteri, a septuagenarian in Ofoni community of the state.
