Ondo State Government has vowed to terminate the contract it awarded for the rehabilitation of the state’s main stadium in Akure should the contractor handling the project renege on the promise to deliver by the end July 2012.
The state’s Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports Alhaji Yekini Olanipekun gave the indication Sunday during an inspection tour of the Stadium project.
According to the Commissioner, all necessary money required by the contractor to complete work on the stadium have been paid, wondering why it has become impossible for the contractor to deliver in record time.
Olanipekun while registering his worry at the inability of the contractor to deliver, said what he found on ground during the visit was a far cry from the government’s expectation adding that the work force was too slow.
“I am very disappointed with what i am seeing here today, all necessary financial commitment that should be met by the government regarding this project have been met. No excuse would be entertained any longer from the contractor” he said.
Still expressing his disappointment at the development, the commissioner said “ All necessary financial obligations to the stadium project have been fulfilled by the government, if by the end of July this project is not done with, the contract will be revoked” Olanipekun vowed.
