MAKURDI— Former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has faulted the call for the reinstatement of the former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, contending that if the Federal Government must reinstate Salami, the former Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Mike Aondoakaa should also be pardoned and his SAN title and grade restored.
Tsav, who said this yesterday in Makurdi, stressed that the law should not be a respecter of any individual no matter how highly-placed.
He regretted that the nation’s legal system had been bastardised, a development which he blamed on high level corruption in the country.
Tsav said: “I have long expected this news because the application of law in Nigeria discriminates in favour of the big, corrupt and influential. People who were indicted in the power probe are today governors, protected by the immunity clause of our constitution. The petrol subsidy rogues cannot be prosecuted according to the AGF.
”The Police Pension fraudsters are back in the comfort of their homes. The report of the ongoing Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, probe may end in the dustbin. I can go on and on.
”Why then must Justice Ayo Salami not be pardoned to safeguard and protect his pension and gratuity?”
If the theory of what is good for the goose is also good for the gander should apply, Mr. Mike Aondoakaa’s SAN title and grade should be restored.”
