ENUGU—THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, yesterday, congratulated Governor Sullivan Iheanacho Chime on his victory over his eligibility to contest the 2011 governorship election on the platform of the party.
The party’s reaction came as some residents of Enugu went into jubilation on hearing the verdict of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which declined jurisdiction to entertain the pre-election matter brought by one of the governorship aspirants of the PDP in the state, Chief Alex Obiechina.
According to Chief Vita Abba, Enugu PDP Chairman, “We view today’s landmark judgment as a victory for democracy and all those who believe strongly in the good work of our Governor, Sullivan Iheanacho Chime in Enugu State.
Mr. Godfrey Okeke, a trader along Obiagu road, expressed gratitude to God for hearing the prayers of many Enugu residents to spare Governor Chime in order to continue with his good works for the people.
In another brief reaction conveyed to correspondents through a text message yesterday, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chime, Mr. Chukwudi Achife, described the victory of his boss as “triumph of truth, justice and democracy.”
