ADO-EKITI—THE Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adewale Omirin, yesterday dismissed insinuations that there were plans to impeach him, and said he was not threatened with resignation nor impeachment by his colleagues.
Rumour has been rife in the last few days that members of the state House of Assembly have concluded plans to impeach Omirin over an allegation of unholy romance with the state executive.
Another alleged crime of the Speaker was his perceived inability to fight for the restoration of the scrapped N20 million Constituency Allowance to each of the lawmakers by Governor.
At a briefing in Ado Ekiti, Omirin described the allegation as mere figment of imaginations of the opposition, saying there was no iota of truth in it.
The speaker who represents Gbonyin Constituency 2 in the House, assured that there was no ill-feelings between him and the 25 members of the Assembly, comprising of 24 members of Action Congress of Nigeria and two members from the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party.
