Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi stated that he will continue with his policy of giving every player a chance to prove himself despite calls for him to put down a standing team.
Former Eagles midfield maestro and technical committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Austin Okocha during the week urged the Eagles coach jettison his experimentation with the local based players and call up seasoned professionals to do the job. But Keshi who leads out the Eagles next against Peru in an international friendly dismissed insinuations that he was trying out players for the national team.
“What we are doing is never an experiment. I’m giving all Nigerian players a chance to prove themselves and we will continue to do so until we get a perfect team. It could be today or tomorrow,” said the former Eagles captain.
Keshi who took over the Eagles November 2 2011 played three friendly games against African sides with mostly local players, some of whom he declared good enough to fit into his plans.
