President of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, Alhaji Yerima Shettima has urged Nigerians to stop castigating the National Security Adviser, NSA, Gen. Andrew Azazi(rtd) for blaming Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the level of insecurity in the country.

Shettima said rather than berate the NSA, security agencies should look at ways of nipping the insecurity problems in the bud.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos, yesterday, Shettima said that rather than raising eyebrows over the comments, security agencies should endeavour to look at the fundamental issues Azazi raised.

Shettima said: “Azazi’s office is not political. He owes a duty to Nigeria. The security issue in Nigeria makes the survival of the nation more important than a political party.

“Nigerians are all aware of comments made during elections by some politicians who felt that because they lost their chances for the Presidency they will make the nation ungovernable.”

“We cannot continue to run the nation like a Banana Republic. In other climes, people who make such inflammatory political comments would be picked up for investigations and questioning.”
