MAIDUGURI – ONE person was on Monday, killed when unknown gunmen attacked the only police station in Benesheikh, headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, 75 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital.

Confirming the incident, state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Bala Hassan, said there was an attack on the police station in Benisheik on Sunday at about 9pm, adding that the police station was equally destroyed, but no casualty was recorded on the side of the police as only a civilian was killed.

He said the attackers were suspected to have come from Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, pointing out that security had been beefed up in the area even as normalcy had since been restored.

Hassan further stated that no arrests have been made, but said investigation was going on with a view to arresting those behind the attack. He called on the public to always report any suspicious movement to security agencies.
