GENERAL Motors has advised their customers to always use genuine GM parts in order to get the best out of their vehicles. General Motors distributes the Chevrolet and Isuzu brands in Nigeria.
John Astbury, General Motors South Africa Vice President Aftersales where Nigeria takes its stocks from said that genuine spare parts holds the key to General Motors owners peace of mind.
“Genuine parts are engineered and validated to ensure the optional performance and reliability of your vehicles,” the Vice President said.
“In addition, Genuine Parts carry a full manufacturer’s replacement warranty, and in the unlikely event of a vehicle failure occurring as a direct consequence of a Genuine Part failure, the vehicle will be repaired under this warranty as well,” he says.
”In contrast, General Motors does not provide backing or support for non-genuine parts, so we would be unable to assist vehicle owners in the event of a subsequent claim resulting from owners using parts not provided by General Motors,” says Astbury.
Astbury says General Motors is aware of the logistics involved in sourcing Genuine Parts in Sub-Saharan Africa and is bolstering their aftermarket division to ensure that Genuine Parts are available through the GM Dealer Network. In addition to this, the company has invested R250 million in establishing a state of the art parts distribution centre, based in South Africa, to serve all Sub-Saharan Africa markets.
Astbury says that by ensuring that GM Genuine Parts are available through the GM dealership network, GM is able to ensure that part replacement is undertaken by qualified and GM-trained technicians.
”This is just one more way in which General Motors is looking after the interests of our customers,” he says.
