In line with the transformation agenda of the Federal Government and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, the FCT Administration said last week that it has mapped out strategies to tackle the housing needs of all residents of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed stated this during a discourse on ‘Housing and Urban Renewal: Developing a Model for a Sustainable Lagos, maintained that housing should be the concern of both those in the  public and private sectors, hence they should work hard to find solutions to the dearth of housing in the country.

The Minister pointed out that the new Land-Infrastructure Swap Model was initiated by the FCT Administration to holistically deal with the housing problems in the city.

Meanwhile, the FCT Administration in conjunction with private developers has concluded plans to come up with an affordable mass housing scheme for FCTA staff in Karshi, a suburb of Abuja.

Senator Bala said the project is in line with the transformation agenda of of the present administration which places premium on workers’ welfare.

‘This is a project we hope to achieve as soon as all the details are worked out with the developers to ensure that workers are given opportunity to own a decent and affordable house,” he said.
