Asaba—A front line leadership group in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, Azungwu Elite Forum, has expressed regret that many victims of the rainstorm, which occurred on April 11, this year, were still homeless.
The group praised the prompt intervention of the state government, which sent relief materials, adding that the materials brought were not very relevant to the needs of the victims.
Spokesman of the forum, Mr. E. Okoh, in a statement in Asaba, yesterday, said: “More than one month after the devastating rainstorm, many victims still live without roofs over their heads.
“The forum is of the view that government’s reaction to this peculiar situation should rather have been the provision of building materials, such as cement, timber, nails, roofing sheets or in the alternative, grants of reasonable cash to help seriously affected victims.”
