…as BoT appoints Rachel Oniga as new secretary of electoral committee
Leading Nollywood actor, producer, director and compere, Charles Inojie who contested for the position of National Secretary during the recently aborted Actors Guild of Nigeria’s general election, in Benin, has blamed the disruption of the election largely on the activities of some professional hooligans and cultists who parade themselves as AGN members.
Inojie made this insinuation, while speaking in an interview during the week, saying that given the aborted election, AGN today is like “an association without a leader.”
He described the ugly incident that preceded the cancellation of the election as ‘sad and unfortunate” adding that cultists and professional hooligans invaded the election venue and disrupted it.
Members of the guild gathered at Baden Hotel in Benin City, Edo state, on Friday, April 27, to conduct their over delayed general election but this was not to be, as violence marred the election which has witnessed series of challenges, including three postponements and a court injunction halting its conduct, championed by Emeka Ike.
