Another bank robbery in Delta, Police quiz two security guards

By Austin Ogwuda
Asaba—BARELY one week, after a bloody attack on two banks in Delta State by a gang of robbers, in which over 10 people were killed, including a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, another bank robbery has taken place in the state.

The robbery gang, weekend, stormed a new generation bank in Asaba, Delta State capital and blew up the vault before they were chased away by policemen.

Although no member of the gang had been arrested at press time, the state Police command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, said two security guards on duty were being questioned by the police.

Muka, in a terse statement, said: “On Friday night, armed men broke into the bank in Asaba. The robbers scaled into the bank premises through the back fence, using two ladders. They tied the security guards before information got to us. We confronted them and foiled the robbery operation. Items recovered included four big gas cylinders, two diggers, two torch lights and two ladders.”
